Get Your Groove On at These Local Concert Venues
Located in downtown St. Petersburg, right across the bay, Jannus Live is the “oldest concert venue in Florida”. Music lovers Rob Douglas, Tony Rifugiato, and Dave Hundley who wanted a place to see reggae, punk, and rock shows founded the original Jannus Landing venue in 1984. Since its opening, the venue has seen some amazing talent come through including: the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Pearl Jam, Cheap Trick, The Wailers, Peter Frampton, .38 Special, Wyclef Jean, Ted Nugent, The Offspring and many, many more. It is now considered a Historic Landmark registered by the city of St. Petersburg.
The Straz Center, located in downtown Tampa, is the largest performing arts center in the Southeast and the only one with an on-site performing arts conservatory. Formerly known as the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center, the Straz Center established arts education as a community priority, working closely with area public, private and home school programs to enhance arts education for children throughout the Tampa Bay area. The Straz hosts a variety of events including Broadway, Opera, cinema, cabaret, comedy, dance, recitals and more.
